This week marked a whole year since we were first locked down in March 2020, and amidst all the reflection and sadness at people’s losses, there is hope in the air. For me, life has been brightened by being able to make tentative plans to hit the road with Hayfield for the first time in 2021. The organisers of the Royal Windsor Horse Show have bucked the trend of major equestrian competitions being cancelled left, right and centre, and have announced that they are running this summer! Normally taking place in May, the RWHS is the largest outdoor horse show in the UK and is set in the stunning grounds of Windsor Castle.
This year, the show will run from Thursday the 1st to Sunday the 4th of July and I just can’t wait to be back there. It’s a real festival of horsemanship, with high level showing, carriage driving, show jumping and endurance competitions as well as displays from the Royal Horse Artillery and the Cavalry. Sadly, the evening pageants won’t take place this year, but it doesn’t take the shine off such good news. It’s safe to say that I am counting down the moments until I walk back through those gates!
The RWHS also has one of the best shopping villages of any equestrian event out there, which is excellent news for those of you who love a good browse as much as the equestrian sport! I’m delighted to say that all being well with the Government ‘roadmap out of lockdown’, Hayfield England will be there too. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year and whilst I am so grateful for all the support online, it feels like high time I saw some customers face-to-face. What an exciting time ahead for Hayfield, with lots of lovely new followers online to share new products with AND the chance to have the trade stand up and running once more. If you’re planning to attend the show, then I very much hope you’ll come along and say hello. Book your tickets and plan your visit here.
Speaking of the summer ahead, I’m also busy working on some exciting new hat designs ready to launch when the warmer weather arrives. The Henley summer fedora was such a runaway success last summer and I think you’ll be really excited when you see what I have lined up this time around! All we need is some of that glorious sunshine which made last spring a little more bearable, the chance to meet up with friends and family once more and life will be looking rosy! You can even snap up a new hat to celebrate the summer sun and a return to normality. Make sure you keep an eye on the Hayfield social media channels to find out when my new hat designs are ready to launch…
